The Bears Draft Defense First!

... an ageing defense, the Bears need to look for fresh talent. Even with the recent signing of safeties Josh Bullocks (Saints) and Glenn Earl (Texans), they still need a little more.

Taking nothing away from Brain Urlacher and Lance Briggs—they are great linebackers—but the other outside linebacker has aways missed that same play-making ability that the others have.

So, drafting NIU's Larry English would be a great start in adding young, fresh talent to the Bears. Playing defensive end at Northern Illinois, English was MAC Conference Defensive Player of the Year two years in a row.

English has great speed and can zero in on the football. The downside is that English doesn't have the size needed to play defensive end in the NFL, so he would make an easy transition to outside linebacker, and would be a perfect fit for the smash mouth defense that Chicago is known for.
