Non-Patriot Fans: Tom Brady’s Best Year Was 2005, Not 2007

... often make that mistake.  They think putting up a bunch of good numbers with lots of weapons at your disposal equals you being great.

The guy who puts up great numbers with no weapons is greater.

Some will argue that a quarterback makes good receivers.  There is some truth in that.  Look at Brandon Stokley in Baltimore and Denver as opposed to Indy.  Peyton Manning made him look good.

Now look at the 2005 Patriots

Find the 1,000-yard rusher.  Find the 1,000-yard receiver.

Corey Dillon had 733 yards.  (He was playing injured, supposedly.)

Deion Branch, now under-performing for the Seahawks, had 998 yards, so he was close.

Christian Fauria, a better TE than his replacements, had a whopping 57 yards.

In that setting, Brady had 4,110 passing yards - first in the league.
