New York Jets Add Some Spare Parts and Draft Observations

... their defense and special teams. Here is a quick run down of their transactions and a few thoughts on the draft:

1. Jets sign LB Larry Izzo - Izzo is a pro-bowl caliber special teams player, who will also provide some depth at the linebacker position. Basically, he will be filling the roster spot of David who joined Eric Mangini in Cleveland.

2. Jets sign DT Howard Green - Green will compete for reps behind Kris Jenkins. Sione Pougha was an Eric Mangini guy, and could be on his way out. The Jets also lost CJ Mosely to the Browns, and Green could help fill some of his playing time.

3. Jets sign DE Marques Douglas - Another Rex Ryan guy, who will provide depth along the defensive line. He will be able to spell both Kenyon Coleman and Shaun Ellis. It will help to have somebody who is familiar with Ryan's system on the d-line.
