Memo to Jerry Angelo: Torry Holt Is a Free Agent, Should Be a Chicago Bear

... requested his release so he could finish his career with a team closer to the playoffs, hopefully with another run at the Super Bowl.

Holt would be perfect on the roster of the Chicago Bears.

First, the negatives. Holt will be 33 in June, and has played his entire career on a pass-happy team in a dome. He's never been a fantastic cold-weather receiver.

Now, the positives. Holt had 64 catches on a train wreck of an offense last year and still has good years left in his legs. He's also not ancient at 33, and would be a good fit to compliment the Bears existing offensive pieces of Devin Hester, Greg Olsen and Matt Forte.

The problems with adding Holt are two fold: one, the Bears might be further from championship-level football than Holt wants at this stage in his career, and two, Bears' GM Jerry Angelo doesn't know how to offer contracts to good free agents.
