Leonard Weaver, Free Agent Fullback, Signed By Eagles to One-Year Deal

Over the past few days, people have speculated whether Weaver would end up with the Philadelphia Eagles, with more doubts than hopes. However, multiple sources said that talks were still going on and speculated that the Eagles were going to make an offer.

Hopefully the acquisition of Weaver will help the Eagles in third and short situations. During the 2008 regular season, the Eagles made only 41 percent of their third down conversions. With Weaver, who averaged 4.3 yards per carry in 30 carries, they should be able to improve what last year was a horrific part of their game and make more third down conversions. 

In Philadelphia, Weaver should be involved in more receiving plays as well. Philadelphia has been fond of throwing screens to their fullbacks. Weaver averaged 11.1 yards per catch last year in 20 receptions, and could see more receptions this year.
