Detroit Lions: Perennial Draft Losers

... at the recent drafting history of the franchise and it's easy to understand why.

Since 2000, the Lions have drafted 88 players of which only about 20 remain. In 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2007 they used a first-round pick on a wide receiver. Only one remains on the active roster, Calvin Johnson, one was traded away, Roy Williams, to the Dallas Cowboys, and two are not even in the NFL. One of them may even be on their way to jail!

The Lions have failed to draft a winning QB or build a strong offensive line in recent history. The QB's they have drafted are Mike McMahon in round 5 No. 18, Joey Harrington round one No. 3, Dan Orlovsky round 5 No. 9, and Drew Stanton round 2 No.11. 

They have drafted twelve defensive lineman since 2000; Andre  Fluellen, Landon Cohen, Ikaika Alma-Francis,Shaun Cody, Bill Svancutt, Jonathan Goddard, Cory Redding, Kalimbla Edwards, John Taylor, Shaun Rogers, Quinton Reese and Alfonso Boone.
