On March 12, the Bears agreed to a one-year contract with cornerback Marcus Hamilton. The 25-year old graduate of Virginia has seven career tackles in two NFL seasons. He was not drafted.

On March 11, the Bears agreed to terms with former New Orleans Saints safety Josh Bullocks. Bullocks was bench in 2008, losing his starting spot on one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. He'll be looked on to be the person in the Bears secondary to get beat deep regularly in 2009.

What do these three moves have in common? They are proof positive that Bears GM Jerry Angelo has no idea what he's doing and doesn't care if the team is competitive in 2009.

Roach is a nice complimentary player and might eventually replace Hunter Hillenmeyer on the strong side, but Hamilton and Bullocks are redundant players on the Bears roster: they're mediocre bodies to waste a roster spot in a crowded secondary.
