2009 NFL Schedule: Prime-time Problems

Both the Cowboys and Bears have five prime-time games. Whats the problem you might ask? NEITHER of these teams made the playoffs last year, and now they have five prime-time games each—that is garbage.

Yes, we know the Cowboys are getting a new stadium, and, yes, the Bears landed the Brett Favre of the 2009 NFL offseason. We don't know how good either of these teams will be.

Meanwhile, six teams get shafted, and get no prime-time games whatsoever. The Lions, Chiefs, Bucs, Seahawks, Rams, and Bengals get no time in the national spotlight. While these teams have a combined record of 21-74-1 (.219) in 2008, that's no reason why these teams should not have there 15 minutes of fame.

Therefore, the NFL needs to include all teams in the prime-time games, no matter how bad they were the year before. Besides, you never know how good or bad a team gets over the offseason, so ...
