NFL Football Players Draft Injuries Rookies Season SuperbowlPublished: June 17, 2009
The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will welcome Red Sox legend and Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famer Wade Boggs and Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski to LeLacheur Park as part of the opening weekend of the 2009 season.
Boggs will be on hand Saturday, June 20 for the first hour after gates open pouring his favorite, Miller High Life, at the newly renovated Miller/Coors Hut on the first base concourse. The event is brought to the Spinners by the Merrimack Valley Distribution Group, the official beer provider of the Lowell Spinners.
“We are excited to kick off our partnership with the Merrimack Valley Distribution Group with a visit from Wade Boggs,” said Spinners Vice President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. “The opportunity to have your cold Miller High Life poured by one of the best hitters the game of baseball has ever seen is an once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
During his minor league career, Boggs played with the Elmira Pioneers, the precursor to the Lowell Spinners, under former Spinners manager Dick Berardino. Boggs was honored by the Spinners in 2008 with an Elmira Pioneers Bobble Head Giveaway.
Gostkowski will be returning to LeLacheur Park for a third consecutive year on Sunday, June 21, in what has become one of the most popular promotions on a yearly basis. The Patriots All-Pro kicker will kick autographed NFL footballs from the field into the waiting arms of fans in the stands.
“Stephen is one of the best kickers in the NFL,” said Bawmann. “When that ball is flying towards you in the stands, you feel like you are on the field with him.”
The Spinners 2009 season officially kicks off Friday, June 19 when the Vermont Lake Monsters arrive in town. Tickets are always available through the Spinners Box Office at 978-459-1702. Follow all Spinner news daily at the Lowell Spinners website.
