Oakland Raiders: How the Raiders Will Finish in 2009

There are many articles written regarding the state of the Raiders and the upcoming 2009 Draft. Everyone has an opinion on who they will draft and who will be No. 1 on the depth chart.

I like many other Raider Fans am always optimistic but for the first time in years, I truly feel we will not be much of an improved team come the 2009 season. This article is written to share and discuss your predictions on how the Raiders will finish the 2009 season.

Oakland finished strong at the end of last season. They beat the Broncos, Texans, and came from behind to knock Tampa Bay out of the playoffs.

The team looked like they were gelling and played extremely well. What concerns me is the 83 points given up to the Chargers and Patriots.

As far as free agency is concerned, no significant moves were made. We resigned Asomugha, Lechler, and Johnson which was very crucial.

I’m not sold on Barnes or Pears and was hoping we would sign a LB and a DT. Losing Wilson who I thought was a good player leaves another hole to fill.

As for the Draft, I think we really need to focus on defense. Our defensive line is pathetic and needs to be addressed first. We can’t win games if we can’t stop the run or get to the QB.

The 2009 schedule brings many tough opponents. I think even with the draft we are still a very similar team as we were last year. After analyzing the schedule, I think we are still a 5-11 football team.

I hate to say it, but that’s the way I see it. I’m a die hard Raider fan and a season ticket holder who no matter what will be at every game and watch every game on TV. Every fan is optimistic but some times think we as Raider fans should be more humble.

My Fantasy Draft

BJ Raji- DT

Clay Matthews- LB

Ramses Barden- WR

Troy Kropog- OT

Kevin Ellison- S

Kyle Moore- DE

So what are your predictions for the upcoming 2009 season?
