A Ringer in Any League-Titans Javon Ringer

I watched this kid Javon Ringer play with the Michigan State Spartans over the past few years since he was a freshman. When the draft came I kept looking down the list to see who would be lucky enough to pick him up. I waited and waited and waited. How this guy slipped through the cracks and past so many teams that need a good explosive back with both power and finesse is beyond me.

While he only stands 5-foot-9 at 205 lbs and 22years old, he can smash up the middle, break tackles, make people miss with his elusiveness, while possessing a good football mentality and has obvious desire to learn, not to mention he holds a black belt in Karate, which tells you he has discipline.

Watch the look in his eyes while he lines up, you’ll never see that deer caught in the headlights look on this kids face.

All these qualities should have seen him drafted much higher than the fifth round 173rd overall, especially after ESPN.com listed him as the 8th best back in the draft and as a third rounder, while another site thought he might go mid-second round.

Now he ends up with a team that is already seemingly set at the running back position, but in the pre-season so far, with the Titans, he is certainly turning some heads. Though it was pre-season he’s put up 33 yards on five carries give him 20 carries which equates to 165 yards, hmm not too bad eh.

He honestly reminds me of Barry Sanders, believe it or not!

I hope this guy gets what he deserves in the future which in my mind is a starting job or at least he ends up splitting the duties with a guy that can mentor him.
