The best way to win a fantasy championship is to draft players on winning NFL teams.

As the fantasy season edges on, it is important to have players on high quality teams who are competing to make the playoffs and giving it their all throughout the year.

It always helps to have players on solid teams with a strong defense and strong supporting cast.

Players such as Dwayne Bowe, Steven Jackson, and Calvin Johnson, who were on losing teams, will only get you so far in a fantasy season. All the mentioned players saw a drop off in statistical production in the latter half of last season.

In this article I will examine the 12 playoff teams of the 2008 NFL season.

I will point out a fantasy impact player on each team who will help lead your fantasy team to a championship.

Indianapolis Colts: QB Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning has been a top 5 fantasy quarterback for the last three years. There is no doubt this team leader will produce throughout the season.

San Diego Chargers: RB LaDainian Tomlinson

LaDainian Tomlinson had a rough year last year but will look to bounce back this year.

The San Diego Chargers have a solid QB in Phillip Rivers, as well as a strong backup RB in Sproles. Look for these players to take pressure of LT and help him have a quality season.

Baltimore Ravens: WR Derrick Mason

Derrick Mason is one of my favorite sleeper picks this year. Mason destroyed defenders on deep passes from Flacco last year and will look to do the same in 2009.

Miami Dolphins RB, Ronnie Brown

The Dolphins barely hung in last season to grab a playoff spot with much thanks to a productive season from Ronnie Brown. Look for Brown’s role and stats to increase this season.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB, Ben Roethlisberger

Big Ben is on the most successful team in football, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ben Roethlisberger is a great late-round QB option. On one of the most well run teams in the NFL, Big Ben will have a wonderful fantasy impact.

Tennessee Titans: RB Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson saw amazing success in 2008 as a rookie and will have another great fantasy season on the winning Titans team.

Philadelphia Eagles: RB Brian Westbrook

The Philadelphia Eagles are almost completely based around RB Brian Westbrook. While his health is in question, Westbrook will still have an effective fantasy impact throughout the entire season.

Minnesota Vikings: RB Adrian Peterson

I don’t know if I even need to say anything about Adrian Peterson. With the possible addition of Brett Favre, Peterson will only get better.

Atlanta Falcons: RB Michael Turner

The Atlanta Falcons fought to the end of the season in order to claim a playoff spot in 2009. There is a strong chance the Falcons will be in a similar situation next year and will look for Michael Turner to carry the load for the Falcons.

Arizona Cardinals: WR Larry Fitzgerald

Larry Fitzgerald is one of the best options at wide receiver this year. Playing on the Super Bowl runner up Cardinals, you can expect Fitzgerald to produce in a big way.

Carolina Panthers: WR Steve Smith

Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith showed flashes of greatness frequently in 2008.

Smith will be on top of his game this year while competing against high level teams such as the Falcons, Buccaneers, and Saints throughout the season.

New York Giants: RB Brandon Jacobs

Brandon Jacobs is an excellent fantasy option at RB this year with the absence of Derrick Ward. On a consistently impressing New York Giants team, Jacobs will have an impressive fantasy impact in 2009.

This completes my list of successful fantasy options on winning NFL franchises.

(updated)

In this article I will take a look at more potential fantasy picks that could cause you more harm than good.

It has always been a strategy of mine to take relatively safe picks in the first few rounds of your fantasy draft.

Your first three to four picks should be locks to produce at least an average amount of points for their position.

Remember, a fantasy season is not won in the early rounds, but in drafting late round sleepers that could end the season as must starters. Take your risks late in the draft.

I will therefore point out some high-risk players who are predicted to be taken in the first, second, or third rounds of this years fantasy drafts.

Keep in mind, these players may only be risks due to their high rankings.

First I would like to explain three main reason why I suspect a player is a risk to draft:

1. The player has been injured or is injured

2. They have had only one good season, and it was possibly a fluke

3. The player is sharing carries with another back

Ok, let’s get started.
