Defense wins Championships. Not just a motto, it is reality. The recent Super Bowl winning teams all had phenomenal defenses.

You are the defensive coordinator for your team, and you are playing a team with the greatest offensive players of today’s game. You have to go up against Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Peterson, L.T. and Tony Gonzalez.

You get to choose your defensive players, from any team in the NFL. You are using a 3-4 defense, so choose your players carefully.

Assemble your own All-NFL defensive team for this season, and compare it to mine.

Let the game (and the fun) begin.

There are some games you would watch just because you are hungry for some football. Rams VS Seahawks doesn’t really entice the mind, but never fear, there are plenty of good games this coming season.
The upcoming season promises to be good with the return of such stars like Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, and Shawn Merriman.
Then there are those games that you plan for the week before, make sure you don’t have anything else going on, and that your spot on the couch will be reserved ten minutes before kickoff. Such games are the ones that every fan looks forward to before the season even begins, when the 2009 schedule was released.

Top 12 NFL Players with New Teams in 2009

This is a list of the top 12 NFL players with new teams this upcoming season. Most of these were done via free agency, and are based upon how much they will improve the team that they were just added to.
There are definitely some players that I left off of this list I know, but I didn’t want it to be the top 25 or 30, so I tried to narrow it down to the top dozen.
Not all of these things work out, there have been many moves that have actually made the team worse, or a player didn’t live up to expectations in their new home. Time will tell what kind of effect these players will have on their new teams.

Ranking the NFL’s Top 10 Rookies in 2009

This is a list of the top ten rookies in the NFL for this year. This list is based on the potential playing time, and the systems in which they are placed into.
Some positions are more favorable for rookies, therefore some of the more sexy position players may not be at the top of the list. Usually defensive players are more effective as rookies, and I took that into account when creating this list.
The NFL usually only has a few rookies each year that burst onto the scene. It is hard to figure out who will shine and who will even get any playing time. It wouldn’t surprise me to look back on this list after the season is over with and laugh at most of them. Anyway, lets take a look at the top 10.

Derrick Thomas to Be Honored By Chiefs

It was announced today that the once great Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas will be honored this season as Kansas City will retire his number 58.

In a ceremony at halftime of the Chiefs matchup versus the Denver Broncos on Dec. 6, the Hall of Fame linebacker is sure to get another rousing standing ovation from the fans at Arrowhead.

Thomas played his entire 11-year NFL career for Kansas City after they drafted him No. 4 overall in the 1989 Draft.

On Jan. 23, 2000 Thomas was involved in a career-ending car accident which paralyzed him from the chest down. A few weeks later on Feb. 8, 2000, he died from a massive blood clot that was discovered in his legs and traveled to his lungs. Thomas wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was reportedly thrown from his car.

Thomas was a nine time Pro-Bowler and named Defensive Rookie of the Year. He was remembered as one of the greatest pass rushers of all time.

On Veteran’s Day, 1990, Thomas recorded an NFL record seven sacks against the Seattle Seahawks, a record which still stands today. He dedicated his performance to his late father, who was killed in the Vietnam War.

Thomas will get his induction into Canton this coming August and the ring ceremony will be taking place on the same day of his jersey retirement in Kansas City.

Thomas will always be remembered for his great plays on the field, and the public will once again be reminded of this great individual and his untimely passing as they honor him and his family this December.
