Denver Broncos To Trade Jay Cutler: Is Anyone in Detroit Listening?

After a month of bickering back-and-forth between Cutler and new Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, the Broncos said Tuesday they are going to trade Cutler.

In late February, Cutler caught word that McDaniels was trying to get Denver to trade for then New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel. McDaniels was the offensive coordinator for the Patriots in 2007 and thoroughly worked with Cassel throughout his remarkable season replacing the injured Tom Brady.

The Broncos could not pull the trigger in a trade for Cassel, who was instead traded to their AFC West rival, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Here's where the Detroit Lions should come into the picture. The Lions, coming off an NFL-worst 0-16 record, have the first overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft and many experts have them drafting Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford with that pick.
