No possible way!

First of all, he is not worthy of the No. 1 pick.

Don't get me wrong—Stafford is a good player, but not a great one! He is an unproven quarterback who has a great arm and tons of "untapped" potential, but the Lions need an impact player who will immediately help them win games this year.

There is a sense of urgency within the locker room and with management to prove that Lions are an up and coming team, who will not let the deficiency of last year hold them down to maintaining a successful year. This is equated to being over 500 and/or making the playoffs.

Secondly, as quiet as it's kept, they've already have their franchise quarterback on their current roster and his name is Drew Stanton. 

Stanton is a future starter in the NFL. Mark my words, he will be a threat either in Detroit or elsewhere, but he will be a threat somewhere.
