NFL Football Players Draft Injuries Rookies Season SuperbowlPublished: May 8, 2009
Bengals fans are already wincing about an offensive line that looks like it won’t be able to have a glimmer of hope of keeping quarterback Carson Palmer remotely safe this season.
The Bengals have decided to say goodbye to mammoth left offensive tackle Levi Jones, 29, releasing him after six injury plagued seasons. The 6-5, 315-pounder was the 10th pick of the 2002 draft and the Bengals made him one of the highest paid tackles in the league.
Jones was an up and down player over the past six years. He was often injured and his lazy rehab efforts did not help mitigate the negative sentiment directed towards him by fans and the coaching staff. When the Bengals drafted Alabama offensive lineman Andre Smith this year, it was the beginning of the end for Jones.
