Bill Belichick had the ball with two minutes to go. It was 4th and two on his own 28 yard line. He went for it, and Tom Brady's completion to Kevin Faulk came up just short.
As I've seen thus far on ESPN, the analysts have crucified Bill Belichick for going for it.
They "can't believe that he actually went for it." He "cost his team the game." He "needs to be held accountable." He "outhinked himself."
Hindsight is 20/20.
This is one of the greatest coaches of all time, and I absolutely believe he made the right call. If the Patriots had converted, he would've been hailed as a genius.
The press would've gushed at how "gutsy" of a call it was.
How much he trusted his offense and his future Hall of Fame quarterback, Tom Brady.
How he took the game out of Peyton Manning's hands, and won the game with a bold coaching move.
But since the conversion failed, the press is crucifying Belichick.
