NFL Football Players Draft Injuries Rookies Season SuperbowlPublished: October 16, 2009
Let’s hope this is an isolated case and not a regression to a past trend. Talent is great, but well coached talent is essential to winning football.
Congratulations, Dannell Ellerbe. We always knew you had it in you!
Carroll County Times: Westminster, Maryland (h/t Daugman)
After that play, though, Ellerbe settled down and recorded six tackles in his NFL debut.
He wound up stopping elusive wide receiver Wes Welker’s forward progress on a few occasions, which is a really difficult task.
“The first opportunity he had to make a tackle, I think he got too excited,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “He played too fast, and he got in there and overshot a veteran back, got juked a little bit.
“After that, he made every tackle and he tackled one of the toughest guys to tackle in football, Wes Welker, a couple of times. So, he played well, but it’s just a start. There are plenty of things and a long way for him to go.”
From Ellerbe’s standpoint, it was a major step forward in his development.

“Last week was really the first week that I cut it loose on some runs,” Robinson said. “I kind of opened it up a little bit and I’ll continue to do so more this week. I feel fine running and obviously, it’s a whole lot different for a quarterback who hasn’t been hit since last season. Once that first hit comes, I’ll be ready to go.”

“Can I answer the question of who it’s going to be right now or what I’d prefer?” Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo said. “Yeah, I’d like to have Knowshon or Herschel Walker. Golly, that’s evident. You’ve got to make the best of the situation that we feel like we can succeed.”
Position switch helped revitalize Evans, Bulldogs – University Of Georgia – Macon
Bryan Evans never would have complained about making a sacrifice for the good of the team, but the truth is, when Martinez asked him to move from corner to safety, Evans assumed his days as a key player on Georgia’s defense were all but over.

When the Falcons worked on their goal-line offense Wednesday, they trotted out their “Bulldog” set. D.J. Shockley was at quarterback with Verron Haynes at fullback and Thomas Brown at running back, all former Georgia Bulldogs players.
Nick Friedell’s Blog – Beckham a superstar in the making – ESPN Chicago
Let’s start with the obvious: Beckham is a full-time player who appears to be a graceful athlete and has made a smooth transition from being a minor league shortstop to a major league third baseman. He’s the type of player you can build an entire franchise around.
Fox is a part-time basher, who looks clunky and out of position whenever he’s out in the field. He’s the type of player you could build a beer-league softball team around.
Bernie’s Dawg Blawg: Thursday Headers
The offices of BDB are undergoing some renovations as we prepare for the upcoming season. Rest assured the dust, sawhorses and empty PBR cans will be out of the way well before we trek over to StillH2O. We here at BerniesDawgBlawg always want your experience to be top-notch.
So rest assured that despite some tinkerings and additions to the format, I will continue to bring you the senseless drivel and thoughtless ramblings you’ve come to adore so much.

Oklahoma State Cowboys, Stillwater, Oklahoma
*** Orange Alert, bring taser
The “grand opening” of the newly refurbished T. Boone Pickens Stadium, can’t wait to see it, assume the lights will be powered by windmills.
Okie State produced Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, Jimmy Johnson, and Jerry Jones, in addition to Don Quixote (T-Bone the tilter).
The only thing we have to fear in Stillwater is the color orange, the letter “z,” and an offensive tackle that resembles a circle of wagons. Dez may be gone but Zac is still there.
Onto the game…
