NFL Playoff Predictions After Week Two

Here are my predictions for the playoff picture this season.
Bold: Playoff Team
NFC
West: In the last two years, this division has turned from a one-team race, into a three-team race.
1. Seattle Seahawks, Record After Week 2: 1-1, Projected Record: 11-5
2. Arizona Cardinals, 1-1, 10-6
3. San Fransisco 49ers, 2-0, 10-6
4. St. Louis Rams, 0-2, 2-14
East: These four teams have traded off playoff spots the last 3 years, and it seems to be shaping up just as excitingly this year.
1. New York Giants, 2-0, 12-4
2. Philadelphia Eagles, 1-1, 10-6
3. Dallas Cowboys, 1-1, 9-7
4. Washington Redskins, 1-1, 7-9
South: This will be another tight, three team division race, but who will win this time?
1. New Orleans Saints, 2-0, 11-5
2. Atlanta Falcons, 2-0, 11-5
3. Carolina Panthers, 0-2, 10-6
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 0-2, 4-12
North: Detroit looks pretty impressive, but will they have enough in them to penetrate a powerful wall made by the Vikings, Packers, and Bears?
1. Minnesota Vikings, 2-0, 14-2
2. Green Bay Packers, 1-1, 10-6
3. Chicago Bears, 1-1, 8-8
4. Detroit Lions, 0-2, 6-10
AFC
West: San Diego is looking like they’re not going to be as good as in recent history, but can Denver take advantage of that open door, unlike last year?
1. San Diego Chargers, 1-1, 10-6
2. Denver Broncos, 2-0, 8-8
3. Oakland Raiders, 1-1, 6-10
4. Kansas City Chiefs, 0-2, 1-15
East: New England isn’t as threatening as usual, but neither is Miami and Buffalo, so New York needs to run the Pats over to get to the playoffs, kind of like they did in week two.
1. New England Patriots, 1-1, 11-5
2. New York Jets, 2-0, 10-6
3. Miami Dolphins, 0-2, 8-8
4. Buffalo Bills, 1-1, 7-9
South: This is probably the toughest division in football, and the Texans and Jags are both fighting for a second wild card playoff spot.
1. Indianapolis Colts, 2-0, 11-5
2. Tennessee Titans, 0-2, 10-6
3. Houston Texans, 1-1, 10-6
3. Jacksonville Jaguars, 0-2, 7-9
North: The defending champs, a rising young team, and two teams trying to get good again make up this division, but only one can make the playoffs.
1. Pittsburgh Steelers, 1-1, 11-5
2. Baltimore Ravens, 2-0, 10-6
3. Cincinnati Bengals, 1-1, 7-9
4. Cleveland Browns, 0-2, 4-12

Top Ten NFL Teams With the Most to Prove in ’09

The 2008 season was full of surprises. The Titans with the best record in the league, the Falcons, Dolphins, and Ravens making the playoffs, the Brady-less Pats nearly making the playoffs, and so on. Last year set up a new season in ’09, one that would show the world whether a team is really good enough to compete in the league, and in the playoffs. Which team has the most to prove this year? The AFC is a melting pot of talent at all positions. QB is found best here, as well as RBs, and defense. But, will the rookies show up in this conference and take over? Will veterans show their stuff? Who is the best in this conference? All of these questions and more will be answered with my review of the best players in the AFC.

There have been many breakout players in football in the NFC. Defensive players and Offensive players from all over the Conference have been rising and falling. Great QBs and RBs highlight it usually, but will it this year? Will there be rookie talent in the best of football? Will transfers from the AFC be great in their new conference? All these questions and more will be answered with my preview of the best of the NFC 2009.
NFL Power Rankings: Who Are The Most Powerful Teams?

Last season was full of surprises and huge questions.
This coming season looks to be even better, especially since there are so many questions.
Can Tom Brady lead the Pats back to the top?
Will the Titans fall?
Can the Dolphins, Cardinals, and Falcons repeat their Cinderella seasons?
All these questions and more will be answered with my 2009-10 season NFL Power Rankings.
32. St. Louis Rams
Bulger is not performing well and with Holt as well as Bruce gone, nothing seems to be going right for this rapidly falling club.
31. Kansas City Chiefs
Tony Gonzalez is gone and receiver help is definitely key in making Matt Cassell the QB they need in KC. If they don’t get it, their in for another hard season.
30. Cincinnati Bengals
With T.J. gone and Ocho Cinco not cooperating, Carson Palmer will have little help in his rehabilitation season.
29. Oakland Raiders
There’s only one thing to say about Oakland; Darius Heyward-Bay, Really?!
28. San Francisco 49ers
Their incredible draft moved them up the list, but Michael Crabtree and Glen Coffee won’t be quite enough to cure their depressing offense, especially without a set QB.
27. Detroit Lions
Detroit, in my opinion, had a great first round and an entire draft in general. Matthew Stafford should help them a little with his great accuracy and arm strength, but without Roy Williams and Mike Furrey, Johnson and Petttigrew will be his only real receiving help.
26. Cleveland Browns
In one season, they went from having close games with Pittsburgh on a daily basis, a great QB as well as receiving core, and nearly making the playoffs, to a predicted to be bad team and no WR or TE to help Anderson, or Quinn.
25. Buffalo Bills
T.O. will get them some attention, but not much more success than last year.
24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Josh Freeman, the projected starter, will have a team full of inexperienced starters. It won’t be easy for the Bucs to compete in a tough NFC South division with that type of roster.
23. Chicago Bears
Jay Cutler will help them get some young, speedy talent, but not much better. Minnesota still looks better than them in their division after the big trade.
22. Green Bay Packers
With Aaron Rodgers under center, the Pack will never be able to get back to their old ways of 2007. Raji will help on defense, but they don’t have much help anywhere else.
21. Arizona Cardinals
Fitzgerald and Warner will be great again, but the overrated Cards’ offense will be no match in a tough division race with Seattle.
20. Washington Redskins
The Skins’ RB Portis would make the team better if he could do two things; stay healthy and preform like a leader. You can say the same about inexperienced QB Jason Campbell, if he’s still on the team that is.
19. Denver Broncos
Jay Cutler will be a huge loss any way you cut it, and without a set starting RB, who will be a leader for a Denver team dying to make it to the playoffs again?
18. Houston Texans
Houston looks okay with Andre Johnson and Mario Williams leading the team. With Sage Rosenfels gone though, David Carr will have to step up and be another leader if they look to compete in the AFC south.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags are another AFC South team that will need leadership from their QB, David Garrard, to compete. Another player that needs to perform for the Jags is RB Maurice Jones-Drew, as Fred Taylor is gone.
16. New York Jets
Mark Sanchez, with a young spark to his game, will help the Jets replace Brett Favre. Maybe, just maybe, he and Bart Scott can complete what Brett Favre couldn’t; make the playoffs for the Jets.
15. Baltimore Ravens
Joe Flacco and Ray Lewis will find it tougher to make the playoffs this season with New England and Jacksonville back on the board.
14. Miami Dolphins
Anquan Boldin looks like he’s not coming over, no new star can emerge to be a hero this year like Chad Pennington did last year. Can they do it again?
13. New Orleans Saints
Reggie Bush has yet to do anything spectacular like the Saints expected him to. He now has the starting job and many more chances to light up the field. He needs to take pressure off Drew Brees if the Saints are to be successful next year.
12. Dallas Cowboys
With T.O. gone, Tony Romo needs to get help from Jason Whiten and Roy Williams if the cowboys can compete in arguably the toughest division in football, the NFC East.
11. San Diego Chargers
The Bolts had a tough season without LT, and although they made it to round 2 of the playoffs, LT needs to play well for them to get past the Colts again.
10. Indianapolis Colts
Although Marvin Harrison is now gone, Payton Manning and Reggie Wayne can handle the passing game for the horse shoes, while Joesph Addai takes some pressure off of them.
9. New York Giants
They had a great draft, Hakeem Nicks looks to be what the Giants wanted in the passing game. With Derrick Ward gone, Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs will be taking over the running game completely. Will they be great again?
8. Atlanta Falcons
Gonzalez was an incredible pickup for a developing Matt Ryan. Roddy White and Michael Jenkins look to be as great as they were last year, those three receivers should definitely bring them back to the playoffs. An interesting Falcon season is ahead of us.
7. Philadelphia Eagles
Brian Westbrook and Donovan McNabb have to stay healthy this season, as the two stars are their only chance to stay alive and make the playoffs again.
6. Pittsburgh Steelers
For this Pennsylvania team, it won’t be easy to repeat with the Pats and the Titans in their way. With Nate Washington gone, MVP Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward will have to play well to make up for his loss.
5. Seattle Seahawks
Aaron Curry was the right pickup for the Hawks. He replaces the lost piece of the defense puzzle, they can now focus on getting some chemistry between T.J. Houshmandzadeh and the rest of the no-longer-injured Seattle offense.
4. Minnesota Vikings
Adrian Peterson should be great again this year, and when Percy Harvin comes back from his dehydration, the offense should be great. I wish I didn’t have to mention it, but Brett Favre’s possible joining of the team would definitely fix their predicament at the QB position.
3. Tennessee Titans
A mixture of “Smash and Dash” running and an improved receiving game, with the addition of Nate Washington, should be the perfect mix for the Titans. The only problems for them are as follows; How will they replace Haynesworth and which QB is better, Vince Young or Kerry Collins?
2. Carolina Panthers
“Double Trouble” should be one of the strongest running attacks in the league, and who’s to say Dellhhome won’t prove himself with the help of Steve Smith and Musshin Muhhammad? The Julius Peppers situation won’t be too much of a loss because of their still great defense.
1. New England Patriots
Tom Brady’s return and Fred Taylor’s arrival should highlight this powerhouse team’s triumphant return to the playoffs. Joey Galloway should be great too, and even the loss of Mike Vrabel won’t shake the defense. There’s only one thing on the Pats’ minds right now, and that’s Superbowl or Bust.
