“Who dat say dey gon beat dem Saints?” – New Orleans Saints 1983

“They say ‘who dat ?’, n***a we dat !” Young Jeezy 2008

The Atlanta Falcons franchise was founded in 1966, bringing the NFL to the south. A year later, the Falcons were given their first true rival, the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints have adopted a chant that dated back to the nineteenth century vaudeville era. The question, “Who dat?”, was first posed in minstrel acts at the turn of the century. E.E Rice is credited with the first “Who dat?” reference in the song “Who Dat Say Chicken in Dis Crowd?”.

In 1983, when the Saints, under Bum Phillips, started winning, New Orleans started chanting “Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gon beat dem Saints?”

Atlanta fans have the answer to that question.

“We dat !”

Though both teams have a less-than-impressive resume, there is one thing that can’t be taken away, team pride. New Orleans fans are well known for their spirit while Atlanta fans are often overlooked.

During the Falcons 1998 season that culminated with their first and only Super Bowl appearance, Atlanta fans and players adopted the nickname “Dirty Birds”. The nickname gave Falcons Nation a feeling of solidarity.

Now it’s time to come together under the banner of “We dat !”

Who has beaten the Saints more times than any NFL team?

We dat !

Who’s going to stop the Saints undefeated streak in 2009?

We dat !

Who dat say de gon beat dem Saints?

We dat !

On Sunday, December 13, the Atlanta Falcons will host the (most likely) still undefeated New Orleans Saints. This is the same Saints team that narrowly defeated the Falcons in Week Seven.

It’s time for Atlanta to show New Orleans who is truly the best team in the South. It’s time for Falcons Nation to make a name for themselves. It’s time for the Atlanta Falcons to be heard.

We dat !

Redskins Hesitant to Call Jason Campbell “Black Out” a Concussion

After Philadelphia DE Juqua Parker threw Washington QB Jason Campbell to the ground on the final forth down play of the Eagles 27-24 victory, everything went black.

No, not for the Redskins, this season has already proven to exhibit the absence of light. I’m referring to Jason Campbell.

In his postgame interview, Campbell remarked, “The guy actually threw me on top of my head. And when he slammed me down on my head everything blacked out, my left arm was numb and I had the breath knocked out of me. So I have no comments for what I think, but at the same time…We know.”

Yes Jason, we know. Campbell was actually referring to our understood knowledge that the tackle in question deserved a flag and 15 yard penalty.

The flag we did get was a red one. By pleading his case in an excuse for the loss, Campbell let us know something that the Redskins organization didn’t, Campbell had injured his brain.

The ‘Skins have already lost their featured running back, Clinton Portis, for the past couple of weeks due to a concussion he suffered on the field. It is still unknown as to when Portis will return to action.

Concussions, or brain bruising, have been a hot topic around the league after several elite stars have missed time due to head injuries. Pro Bowlers Clinton Portis, RB Brian Westbrook, QB Ben Roethlisberger, and QB Kurt Warner have all gone down and have yet to return to the field of play.

According to Washington Post writer Rick Maese, Jim Zorn acknowledged Campbell’s injury but said he did not suffer a concussion.

After losing their star running back and seeing both the Steelers and Cardinals lose their quarterbacks as well as their week 12 games, the Redskins seem reluctant to consider the injury a concussion and may want to keep the specifics “in house.”

Knowing that the dreaded diagnosis can be damning to a players eligibility, Washington officials will have to keep a close eye on Campbell’s condition. If it comes out that the quarterback did suffer a concussion and the team kept it under wraps, expect severe punishment for a team already in disarray.

Breaking News: Washington Redskins Owner, Dan Snyder Set to Hire New GM

Team owner, Daniel Snyder, looking to add a spark to the struggling Redskins, has found a new General Manager for his team.

Snyder has offered the position to a money stack with big googly eyes. The money stack is currently a pitchman for GEICO Insurance.

The deal is reportedly worth the unguaranteed portion of Albert Haynesworth’s $100 million contract.

Snyder will likely be retaining Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Vinny Cerrato. The ‘Skins owner said the move simply “brings in another set of eyes.”

Snyder recently place a sort of gag order on defensive coordinator Greg Blache, something not necessary with the potential new GM, as he only communicates via text, never verbally.

Snyder was also impressed that the GEICO representative, like himself, was made of money.

There is a possibility that, if hired, the money stack could bring in his own crew, including the Geico Gecko, to replace head coach Jim Zorn. Zorn denied the rumor, but did mention that he “always feels like somebody’s watching me.”

Dan Snyder revealed that an overriding factor in his decision to make this move was “the money that he could be saving by switching to GEICO (employees).”

Jason Voorhees Takes the Snap: NFL Quarterbacks as Friday the 13th Movies

October is here and Halloween is creeping up on us. Nothing says Halloween like horror and nothing says horror like the Friday the 13th.

Hidden behind a tattered hockey mask is the face of the franchise, Jason Voorhees. Waiting in the shadows, Jason plotted and slashed through his victims with strength and accuracy. Often overlooked were Jason’s patience, persistence and poise.

The same attributes makeup great quarterbacks in the NFL.

A top notch QB must be able to handle the preasure of being the face of a franchise. They have to go out, week after week, and slash through opposing defenses with strength and accuracy. The three aforementioned “P”s (patience, persistence, and poise) are vital elements of success for an NFL quarterback.

Here we examine 10 QBs and how they stack up against the first 10 Friday the 13th films. Maybe it’s time to dust off the old VCR and return to Camp Crystal Lake. Head over to Poor Sport Report for some Friday the 13th bonus features.
